2018 UNESCO City of Literature Lecture: Elif Shafak (Feminist Book Fortnight)

We are delighted to announce that Elif Shafak will give the second UNESCO City of Literature lecture in Nottingham.

UNESCO considers gender equality as a fundamental human right, a building block for social justice and an economic necessity. Award-winning novelist, Elif Shafak will reflect on the individual and multi-layered experiences of women and delve into how literature plays an important role in achieving gender equality and understanding the perspective of others.

Elif Shafak is an award-winning novelist and the most widely read female writer in Turkey. She is also a political commentator, an academic and inspirational public speaker. This lecture is free to attend, but please book your place in order to avoid disappointment.
